For several years, Northeast Guidance Center has distributed warm, colorful coats to bring warmth to a needy child and their siblings, who often have to share a coat to attend school. This means that a child may attend school every other day or less. NEGC’s signature fundraiser Kruise4Kids raised funds to purchase 1,000 WARM COATS for the children who receive services at the Eli Z. Rubin Children’s Wellness Center, and their siblings. In addition to the K4K fundraiser, PNC Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to contribute to the effort and the Rotary Club of Grosse Pointe arranged discounted pricing, delivery and volunteer services. Several alumni members of the Assistance League of NEGC, Mary Graham and Claude Partridge helped size and distribute the many, many boxes of coats from infant through youth sizes. This year NEGC topped off the project by presenting each child with a hat or headband and gloves. We thank our community partners, K4K sponsors, organizations and individuals who contributed by purchasing a K4K ticket or making a donation.
